Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures

Tooth bleaching or teeth whitening is the procedure of lightening the natural color of one’s teeth. Teeth whitening can also be done by chemically changing the color of your tooth enamel and is usually desired due to discoloration of teeth over time. If you’re looking for an effective method to enhance the color and overall beauty of your smile, then you might want to consider teeth whitening.

You should know that there are several types of cosmetic dentistry procedures. These are tooth whitening and tooth bleaching. Tooth whitening is usually performed on an outpatient basis, usually done at your dentist’s office in the morning. However, depending on the severity of your stains, tooth whitening might be done on an inpatient basis or even overnight in hospital.

Teeth bleaching has many benefits compared to tooth whitening, but it is done in a more invasive manner. Teeth bleaching is typically performed on an inpatient basis, or in a hospital setting, and requires the same dental surgeon as tooth whitening. It is not common, however, to do this treatment on an outpatient basis, as most people want immediate results. Teeth bleaching does take much longer to achieve than tooth whitening, typically taking two weeks to reach the best level of whiteness. After this period of time, you’ll need to have the treatments repeated to achieve the best results.

Bleaching is commonly done on an outpatient basis. The most common procedure used for bleaching involves placing an acid onto the surface of the teeth. The acid helps to break down the stains, which causes them to be flushed out of the tooth. This process can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on the severity of your stains. When done on an outpatient basis, bleaching can last up to six months before you need to have the procedure repeated.

If you have to have tooth bleaching, you should also see a dentist’s office to get the procedure done. Your dentist will take a sample of your tooth enamel and analyses it to determine the correct bleaching treatment, as well as advise you on the type of treatment you should get.

Teeth bleaching can be done by anyone and it works great for many. In fact, if you have a lot of discoloration on your teeth, or need to bleach your teeth as part of a cosmetic dentistry procedure, then you may want to consider this option.
